Gordon shines, Davis burns former team as Clippers top Warriors
Basketball Betting Lines
02/24/2009 -
Los Angeles, CA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Rookie Eric Gordon went 6-of-7 from three-
point range to finish with 27 points and Baron Davis logged 25 points, 10
assists and nine rebounds against his former team, as the Los Angeles Clippers
picked up a 118-105 victory over the Golden State Warriors.
Zach Randolph posted 27 points and 11 rebounds for the Clippers, who shot
13-of-24 from behind the arc to snap a three-game losing streak.
Marcus Camby returned from a four-game layoff due to an inner ear infection
and finished with nine points and six rebounds.
"I came out more aggressive. I was able to force my tempo tonight," Davis
said. "We have a good team. We have to continue to work hard."
Golden State, which was coming off a 4-1 homestand, lost its 11th road game in
12 tries. Stephen Jackson posted a game-high 28 points, while C.J. Watson and
Jamal Crawford notched 16 and 15 points, respectively, in defeat.
The Warriors were without guard Monta Ellis, who will be sidelined 1-to-2
weeks after experiencing stiffness in his surgically repaired left ankle, but
welcomed back center Andris Biedrins (ankle) from a five-game absence.
Biedrins notched four points and four rebounds in 16-plus minutes of action.
Trailing by double digits for most of the second half, Anthony Morrow and
Jackson nailed three-pointers on consecutive possessions midway through the
fourth, and the Warriors were suddenly behind just 98-95.
The Clippers looked to their rookie for a response, and Gordon hit from
downtown on back-to-back touches for a nine-point lead.
LA was up seven with a minute left before Davis stuck a dagger in the Warriors
with a trifecta for a 114-104 advantage, and Golden State failed to hit a
field goal the rest of the way.
"We knew [Davis] was going to have a better game than the first time we played
them," Jackson said. "I got the better of him the first time. Tonight, he got
the better of me."
The Warriors came out on fire and owned a 25-11 lead with roughly 4 1/2
minutes left in the first quarter.
The Clippers answered to make it 27-all after 12 minutes of play and
eventually took a 60-55 lead at halftime.
Cruising along with an 87-69 lead late in the third quarter behind a 16-5
spurt, LA took its foot off the gas, as former Clipper Corey Maggette's jumper
made it an 89-79 game heading to the fourth quarter.

March Madness odds and printable March Madness brackets
With the field of 64/65 set, MySportsbook.com has the Florida Gators as the 4-1 favorite to successfully defend their National Championship. Men’s Division-1 College Basketball has not seen a team repeat as National Champions since Duke won back to back championships in ’91 & ‘92. After losing three out of four late in the season, the Gators are full of momentum as they won their last four games by an average of 18 points. Not surprisingly, right behind the Gators are the other three top seeds: Kansas 5-1, UNC 6-1, and Ohio State 7-1. Many consider Kansas to be the hottest team in the country, having won 11 straight. With Kansas, it is hard to ignore all of the early exits from the “dance” in recent years. With an impressive ACC Tournament, UNC ensured themselves the other top seed. UNC has about as much talent as any other team in the tournament but with a team that’s best players are primarily freshman and sophomores, could youth be a concern. Behind freshman sensation, Greg Oden, OSU will look to do what their football team failed to do just a few months earlier. OSU seems to have peeked at the right time, as they currently have a 17 game winning streak. Since the tournament field was expanded in 1985, there has never been an instance where all four #1 seeds advanced to the Final Four. It is obvious that each of the top seeds have the talent to make it through to Atlanta. But as everyone knows, when makes the NCAA Tournament so special are all of the spoilers and “Cinderella” stories that knock off the favorites on a daily basis.
